Network Care Pathways and
Clinical Practice Guidelines

About

As a MMN we are developing regional maternal medicine care pathways and clinical practice guidelines. The care pathways outline the key contacts, referral processes, and the conditions that require specialist input or consultant led care, including where patients with specific clinical conditions should be managed.

Clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) aim to support the provision of evidence-based medicine and optimize the quality and cost-effectiveness of care. As a MMN we are committed to assisting health care providers and patients with evidence informed resources to provide comprehensive, considerate and equitable care to women and their families.

The NW Maternal Medicine Guideline Subgroup will follow a rigorous process of guideline development involving:

  • A Baseline survey of practice to understand current provision of care
  • Regional invite to key stakeholders to form part of a ‘working group’
  • CPGs Working Group first consultation
  • NW regional consultation
  • CPGs Working Party second consultation
  • Endorsement from the NW Regional Clinical Practice Guidelines Group
  • Dissemination of new CPG with implementation tools

We will provide resources to support clinicians, consumers and decision makers to use the clinical guidelines and suggest Auditable Quality measures to ensure adequate implementation and adherence to the CPGs.

The guidelines will include useful links to existing National and International CPGs and resources.
