Cheshire and Mersey (C&M) Liverpool Women’s Hospital MMC
All referrals to an MMC can be made through a referral system. This can lead to the following:
- Written response specifying opinion/view of MMC team
- Discussion at MMC MDT with written response to the referring provider
- Review in Specialist clinic
- Transfer of care

EMERGENCY ADVICE |
On call Consultant Obstetrician: switchboard 0151 708 9988 ask for Obstetric consultant or call Bleep 100 Or Contact the MDT co-ordinator directly, within office hours (8-4pm, via switchboard 0151 702 4271).

The referral form will ask referrers to stipulate their degree of urgency (as routine or urgent). Routine referrals will be processed within two weeks. Urgent referrals will be processed within a week. If a more immediate response is required, the referrer will be asked to contact the MDT co-ordinator directly, within office hours. If it is outside office hours the referrer will be directed to contact the on call obstetric consultant through switchboard for immediate guidance, and to complete the online referral form.
A weekly maternal medicine MDT meeting is held via Teams every Wednesday from 12-1pm. The meetings are themed to facilitate attendance of the appropriate specialists.
